Our skin is our largest organ, occupying an area of about two square metres. In addition to protecting us from mechanical injuries and radiation and regulating our body temperature, it also provides us with the sense of touch. The skin has about 300 million cells, and up to 40,000 of them die and regenerate every minute. The skin protects us on the surface, while our skeleton, joints and cartilage allow us to stand upright, move and perform movements without hindrance. As we age, cartilage becomes increasingly brittle and easily damaged while bones become more porous.

Joints are very important links in our skeleton; they do not only connect the bones, but also enable us to perform precise movements, withstanding a lot of pressure in the process. They differ in mobility but also in structure: there are fibrous, synovial and cartilaginous joints. Cartilaginous tissue is responsible for the elasticity of our movements; its composition includes collagen peptides, chondroitin sulphate, glucosamine, methylsulfonylmethane, as well as minerals. Cartilage is constantly rebuilt and we are usually not aware of its existence until it is damaged, which is manifested by difficulties and aches when moving and by swellings. One of the common degenerative diseases of the joints is osteoarthritis or arthrosis, in which joints are damaged, movement restricted and the quality of life impaired. With age, cartilage loses its elasticity and the ability to regenerate; damage can additionally occur in professional athletes or during heavy physical work. In obese people, cartilage suffers an additional burden, with the hips and knees being particularly affected. The joints of people who do not move enough or those who are bed ridden for long also suffer as the cartilage tissue does not feed and is thus damaged.

The human body is a complex mechanism in which everything is connected and none of its fragments function independently; the skin and skeleton are connected by the same elements that are necessary for their normal functioning.

One of them is HYALURONIC ACID. The most important factor that affects the skin’s youthful appearance is the water that it contains. The main molecule that makes this possible is hyaluronic acid, which has an exceptional ability to retain water. The process of metabolism of this acid is very complex and scientists are aware that this mechanism conceals the secret of undisturbed skin hydration.

Ageing is an inevitable process that affects the skin as well as all organs, including bones and joints. What additionally contributes to skin deterioration is exposure to ultraviolet radiation, which causes a special type of degradation – photo ageing. That is why people who spend a lot of time in the strong sun can look much older and more wrinkled than their age. Moreover, it is estimated that as much as 80 per cent of facial skin ageing occurs due to exposure to UV rays. Also, hormonal changes that occur at certain stages of life, such as menopause in women, can cause collagen breakdown, dryness, sagging skin and wrinkles, but also greater bone porosity and joint sensitivity.

Until recently, the skin was observed on the basis of its layers: epidermis, dermis and hypodermis (subcutis). Today we know that the extracellular matrix (ECM) is extremely important for skin structure, i.e. tissues in general; its molecules are located between cells, which play a major role in cell functioning in addition to providing skin structure. These molecules form an organised structure consisting of glucosaminoglycans, proteoglycans, growth factors, and structural proteins such as collagen. However, the most dominant component in it is hyaluronic acid.

Of the total amount of hyaluronic acid that our body contains, 50 per cent is found in the skin. Its content is significantly higher in the dermis than in the epidermis. That is why it is not enough just to apply hyaluronic acid to the skin, it is much more efficient to drink it. One study that evaluated the results of oral intake of hyaluronic acid over 12 weeks concluded that the results were visible after eight weeks, while after 12 weeks in the group taking hyaluronic acid there was a visible improvement in skin elasticity  compared to a control group. Subjects of both sexes were between 22 and 59 years of age, and all of them had wrinkles in the corners of their eyes. Of the 60 voluntary participants in this study, those who took hyaluronic acid showed a significant reduction in the depth and length of the wrinkles, compared to those who took placebo – as established by microscopic examinations. How is that possible? The most typical connective tissue cell that participates in tissue structures is fibroblast. In the dermis, collagen, elastin and hyaluronic fibres are synthesised in fibrobasts. Hyaluronic acid stimulates fibroblast proliferation in the dermis; studies have shown that oral intake of hyaluronic acid promotes the synthesis of hyaluronic acid in fibroblasts.

That is why today’s medicine recognises that hyaluronic acid is an ideal solution not only for skin rejuvenation, but that it also plays a role in wound healing, tissue recovery, it reduces inflammation, boosts immunity and can even be used in cancer diagnosis.

And what about the bones? Recently, hyaluronic acid has also been used as a therapy for osteoarthritis . Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that increasingly affects elderly people. In addition to severe pain, it is characterised by a feeling of stiffness and limited movement. After looking into as many as 44 clinical studies, it was concluded that the solution is in hyaluronic acid. This acid normally plays an important role in the synovial fluid of the joints, i.e. cartilage, and thanks to it the joints are lubricated and their easy movement is facilitated. By injecting hyaluronic acid directly into the joints, or by taking it orally, we can contribute to the smooth functioning of the joints, but also to a significant reduction in the problems of osteoarthritis. One study that followed about 100 patients who were injected once in the knee with hyaluronic acid because of osteoarthritis  determined that its effect lasts for a year in most cases, that it is optimally tolerated by patients and that it is completely safe.

Another study dealt with the same problem – osteoarthritis in the knee, with hyaluronic acid being used orally  and came to a similar conclusion that supplements based on this substance are an excellent solution for joint pain caused by cartilage deterioration. Mindful of the fact that with the help of hyaluronic acid we can kill two birds with one stone – protect joints and achieve a youthful appearance of facial skin, hyaluronic acid supplements are not only a great therapy for the elderly, but they also play an ideal role in preventing similar problems in younger and middle-aged people.

GLUTATHIONE HYALURONIC contains the highest quality hyaluronic acid, but also other necessary substances that optimise its effect.

L-GLUTATHIONE is an amino acid and a powerful antioxidant that protects all bodily functions, strengthens immunity, detoxifies, eliminates free radicals, reduces inflammation, improves sleep quality, brain function and mental alertness, speeds up metabolism and has an anti-ageing effect.

As osteoarthritis is primarily caused by inflammation of the musculoskeletal system which worsens due to oxidative stress, clinical studies turned their focus towards the research of the substances that could prevent or attenuate that.

Glutathione came into the spotlight in clinical research, showing an enormous potential in prevention of deterioration of cartilage and inflammation, reduction of pain and improvement of mobility in patients, as well as promotion of regeneration of synovial tissue. It was observed that glutathione exerts protective effects from oxidative stress which makes it a precious component for the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal inflammatory disorders.

Today we are aware that the primary culprit for rheumatoid arthritis is citrullination, the modification of arginine into citrulline, the amino acid which triggers the immune response. A study that looked into the influence of the reduced glutathione discovered that it plays a vital role in prevention of citrullination and prevalence of anti-CCP antibodies. The antioxidant effect of glutathione has been proven to prevent inflammation in synovial fibroblasts, joint connective tissue cells. Glutathione is, therefore, an essential element for persons with a genetic predisposition to all types of arthritis, and especially to the elderly persons and women in menopause. It has been proven to reduce oxidative stress and cartilage deterioration which are a normal consequence of ageing.

As for the appearance and health of the skin, the antimelanogenetic and anti-age effect of glutathione has been proven by studies: in subjects who took this amino acid orally for 12 weeks, a significant improvement in skin characteristics was observed, including melanin index, reduction of UV spots, a reduction in wrinkles and an increase of skin elasticity compared to those taking placebo pills.

The property of glutathione in skin whitening is especially noticeable. The amount and length of glutathione intake to achieve this goal depends on how dark the skin is and what the goal is. It is estimated that it takes one to three months of therapy to lighten the skin by a couple of shades, but at the same time it is necessary to stay out of the sun. Glutathione brightens the skin by inactivating an enzyme that contributes to the formation of skin pigment. In addition to lightening the skin evenly, it also has the power to remove blemishes, hyperpigmentation and acne blemishes. What is even more important to know is that glutathione works best in synergy with vitamin C. That is why L-glutathione and liposomal vitamin C are represented together in the GLUTATHIONE HYALURONIC ACID supplement. The supplement contains reduced glutathione which has been proven to absorb actively in the body, increasing its concentration in the tissue. Clinical studies have discovered a complex mechanism of glutathione absorption: following its consumption, it is absorbed in the intestine, bound to protein and transported into the blood, and eventually delivered into the liver to be actively utilised by the body.

In addition to this amino acid, there are other amino acids that promote collagen synthesis in the skin and joints: L-histidine, L-cysteine, L-glycine and L-proline.

L-histidine is one of the building blocks of collagen that plays a role in building and regenerating tissues, forming blood cells and maintaining nerve cells, and is important in the metabolism of trace elements. Its role in GLUTATHIONE HYALURONIC ACID is two-pronged: it protects joints and cartilage, as it has been proven that persons with arthritis suffer from low levels of this amino acid , histidine also helps skin regeneration and prevents inflammatory processes. Its positive effect has been proven in treating eczema  and it was estimated to be similar to that of medium-strength corticosteroids.

L-cysteine is a powerful antioxidant that protects tissues from oxidative stress. It is in direct connection with keratin, which is why it makes our hair lush and nails strong and contributes to the normal functioning of the skin. Among other things, l-cysteine promotes wound healing and epithelialisation of the eye.

L-glycine is another amino acid that enables the formation of the already mentioned glutathione. The importance of glycine in preventing many diseases, including cancer , has been proven, and one of its important functions is anti-inflammatory, thanks to which it relieves pain in arthritis. When it comes to the skin or mucous membranes, glycine is very useful for the treatment of inflammation of the mucous membrane, and its effect has been proven in oral mucositis.

L-proline plays an important role in tissue regeneration and skin rejuvenation (anti-age effect); its effect in promoting wound healing has been proven . Studies have proven its effectiveness in smoothing fine wrinkles around the eyes and contributing to smooth and supple skin.

All these amino acids are necessary for protein synthesis and collagen formation. Vitamins provide additional support in this process.

BIOTIN, (also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H), aides metabolism of amino acids. It is necessary for normal hair, nail and skin growth, and studies have shown that biotin can successfully stop hair loss and help make it more lush. It is also extremely important for the skin, and is used as an additional therapy for dermatitis. However, like all ingredients in the GLUTATHIONE HYALURONIC ACID supplement – in addition to providing benefits to the skin – biotin also contributes to joint health and cartilage regeneration.

LIPOSOMAL VITAMIN C – in addition to its already mentioned role in synergy with glutathione, it is very important for tissue health because it helps collagen synthesis and prevents oxidative stress, so it is used as a therapy after injuries to muscle and bone tissue. Its role has also been proven in protecting the skin, especially from harmful UV radiation. Today, we know that the body makes much better use of the liposomal form of vitamin C than the usual one, so it is also used in this supplement.

The synergistic effect of all the ingredients in GLUTATHIONE HYALURONIC ACID does not only contribute to the health and beauty of the skin, bone density and smooth mobility of the joints now, but is also a great investment in the future and our carefree and active old age. It is used very simply: 10 ml should be drunk half an hour before a meal.
